ICRIER organized a workshop on Special Economic Zones and their Impact on Export Promotion to discuss research findings and seek comments of the key stakeholders on this important topic. This workshop is the final step of ICRIER’s ongoing research on a Cost-Benefit Analyses of India’s Export Promotion Schemes. The project was commissioned by the Ministry of Finance, and the researchers have attempted to evaluate the overall economic impact (welfare gains/loss vis-a-vis investment, foreign exchange and employment etc) of existing export promotion schemes, including SEZs. Based on detailed quantitative analysis, the studies make relevant policy recommendations for the Government of India.
