ICRIER Invites Applications for the position of Consultant – Expert (Power Sector)

Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) is looking to hire a full-time Consultant – Expert (Power Sector) to be part of Climate Change Urbanization and Sustainability (CCUS) division.

The team consists of seasoned professionals belonging to a variety of disciplines, covering multiple facets of this broad theme. The team is engaged in cutting-edge research employing General Equilibrium Models (GEM), energy systems models, waste models, etc. to tackle core energy and environmental issues. It offers its research services to different government ministries for shaping their negotiation stances at multiple forums such as the G20, UNFCCC, etc.; and also provides timely insights into some of the key questions that the country is grappling with.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Should have a Master’s degree in Engineering OR an MBA with relevant experience in the power sector
• Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of work experience in the power sector (power utilities, state-designated agencies, etc.).
• Candidates must be willing to engage on a long-term basis (till 2024).

About the Project:

ICRIER is engaged in a project for providing technical support to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) for G20 Energy Sustainability Working Group (ESWG) related activities to prepare for India’s G20 Presidency and the organization of Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM).

Job Description:

• In-depth assessment and evaluation of particular theme(s) identified by the Energy Sustainability Working Group (ESWG) and steered by the BEE.
• In-depth assessment and evaluation of relevant Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) workstreams and initiatives.
• High-level interactions with both international and domestic stakeholders involving governments and institutions for agenda setting as well as during the negotiation stage under the Presidency.
• Planning and providing assistance in the organization of workshops/seminars/events/meetings based on the identified themes, involving G20 countries, various Central and State Government Ministries / Departments / Organizations with delegates from all G20 member countries and organizations; culminating in energy ministerial in 2023.
• Planning and providing assistance in the organization of the Clean Energy Ministerial in 2023.
• The role would involve the selected candidate operating from the BEE G20/CEM Secretariat.
