Position: Research Associate – Electric Vehicle and Battery Systems (Policy Focus)
Location: New Delhi

Description:
Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), an autonomous, policy-oriented, not-for-profit, policy think tank based in New Delhi is looking for a Research Assistant for its Climate Change, Urbanisation and Sustainability team.

The team consists of seasoned professionals belonging to a variety of disciplines, covering multiple facets of this broad theme. The team is engaged in cutting edge research employing General Equilibrium Models (GEM), energy systems models, waste models etc. to tackle core energy and environmental issues. It offers its research services to different government ministries for shaping their negotiation stances at multiple forums such as the G20, UNFCCC etc.; and also provides timely insights into some of the key questions that the country is grappling with.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate with a strong background in electric vehicles (EVs) and system-level battery technologies. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of electric vehicle systems and a proven track record of working within the policy space. This role requires a candidate with a MTech degree and relevant experience in the electric vehicle domain, particularly with a focus on EV wing activities.

Responsibilities:
Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on electric vehicles, focusing on system-level battery technologies. Analyse and evaluate policy initiatives related to electric vehicles, keeping abreast of industry trends, regulations, and advancements.

Policy Development and Implementation: Collaborate with internal teams to develop and propose policies that support the sustainability in EV sector. Work closely with government bodies and regulatory agencies to provide insights and recommendations for effective policy implementation.

Technical Expertise: Leverage technical knowledge to contribute to the development of innovative solutions in the electric vehicle, battery systems and battery recycling space.

Provide technical support to interdisciplinary teams and assist in the development of technical reports and documentation.

Ensure timely delivery of project milestones and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering/Science (MTech) or related field. MTech in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Proven experience working in the electric vehicle domain, with a focus on batteries used in electric vehicle. Knowledge of battery recycling technologies will support the application.
  • Strong understanding of battery technologies at system level.
  • Experience of 2-3 years of working with think tanks, academic institute or automotive industry.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and project management skills.
  • Prior experience in publishing report or journal article will strengthen the application.

  • Excellent communication, narration and writing skills.
  • Willingness to work on technologies and their sustainability aspect and multiple projects simultaneous.
  • Well-verse in MS-office tools with good presentation skills.
  • Strong work ethics and sense of responsibility towards the work assigned.
  • Enthusiastic with willingness to learn and contribute to organizational growth.

Compensation: As per ICRIER standards and norms.
Time of Joining: Immediate (preferred) or within one month
