Position: Senior Research Associate/Research Associate (Life Cycle Assessment and Supply Chain)

Description:
Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), an autonomous, policy-oriented, not-for-profit, policy think tank based in New Delhi is looking for a Research Assistant for its Climate Change, Urbanisation and Sustainability team.

The team consists of seasoned professionals belonging to a variety of disciplines, covering multiple facets of this broad theme. The team is engaged in cutting edge research employing General Equilibrium Models (GEM), energy systems models, waste models etc. to tackle core energy and environmental issues. It offers its research services to different government ministries for shaping their negotiation stances at multiple forums such as the G20, UNFCCC etc.; and also provides timely insights into some of the key questions that the country is grappling with.

The Senior Research Associate/Research Associate must possess the capability to perform thorough qualitative and quantitative research on the sustainability and supply chain aspects of batteries used in electric vehicles (EV). This position necessitates a strong understanding of life cycle assessment (LCA) and supply chain evaluation, or a background in analyzing the environmental footprints of products. The candidate should be open to working under supervision and delivering results within a reasonable timeframe.

Responsibility

  • Conduct thorough qualitative and quantitative research on the LCA and supply chain of electric vehicle batteries.
  • Perform a literature review and adeptly organize pertinent information into actionable items.
  • Participate in activities related to engaging with external organizations or partners.
  • Engage in comprehensive data collection, organization, and analysis. Source and analyze pertinent data and information through research.
  • Support in the preparation of project reports, articles, and PowerPoint presentations.

Qualification

  • Post-graduation from a lead academic institute or Tier-1 B-Schools. MBA degree in Supply Chain/Master degree with relevant certification in LCA/supply chain is preferred.
  • Candidates with interdisciplinary qualifications or specialized certification on the subjects (LCA, supply chain assessment of batteries or any other technology/processes) are also encourage to apply.

Experience

  • At least 2-3 years of research experience in think tanks, academic institute or government on life-cycle and supply chain assessments of a product.
  • Relevant working knowledge on batteries used in electric vehicles, understanding of battery chemistries will be add on.
  • Report/working paper/research article published on life cycle assessment or supply chain assessment is compulsory using SimaPro or any other LCA assessment software.

Skill Sets

  • Proficiency in at life cycle assessment software such as SimaPro or any other life assessment software.
  • Analytical skills, ability of analyse data, draw conclusion and provide practical outcomes/recommendation based on them.
  • Excellent communication, narration and writing skills.
  • Willingness to work on technologies and their sustainability aspect and multiple projects simultaneous.
  • Well-verse in MS-office tools with good presentation skills.
  • Strong work ethics and sense of responsibility towards the work assigned.
  • Enthusiastic with willingness to learn and contribute to organizational growth.

Compensation: As per ICRIER standards and norms.
