On September 26th, we lost our beloved Chairperson Emerita Isher Judge Ahluwalia, while India lost a brilliant mind and economist and the world a charming, graceful, inspiring and charismatic women's icon. lsher was Chairperson ICRIER for 15 years and stepped down in August 2020 due to ill health. Prior to that, she was Director & Chief Executive from 1998 to 2002. Isher was an institution herself and built ours to where it is today. The Board recently resolved to name our new green building as 'The Isher Building' as a small tribute to her enormous contribution to ICRIER.
In this difficult time, we received condolence messages from all over the world. Some tributes are compiled is a digital file that can be accessed here. We are deeply and profoundly touched by the outpouring of support of all our well-wishers. Isher's vision of excellence for ICRIER will continue to inspire our work.
The October 2020 issue of the Newsletter has a section devoted to the memory of Isher that compiles media articles reflecting the amazing breadth and depth of her achievements. The Newsletter also provides a quick recap of ICRIER’s research and policy engagements during the month of September 2020 under different thrust areas.
We hope you take a few moments to glance through these updates. We would love to hear back from you.
