India and the EU are negotiating a comprehensive bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA), known as the India-EU Broad-based Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA) that will cover goods, services, investment, government procurement and cooperation. Since the services sector has emerged as the largest and fastest-growing sector in India and the EU, contributing significantly to global output and employment, this study focuses on enhancing trade and investments in services between India and the EU. The study lays stress on five sectors of interest to India and EU member states: logistics, energy, IT and IT enabled services (ITeS), retail, and professional services. It examines the trade potential, investment and collaborations, analyses the pattern of bilateral trade flows and identifies the areas of future cooperation in addressing the barriers faced in each otherís markets. The study aims at providing policy recommendations for India and the European Union (EU).
