1. Fellow (One Post) – Environmental Sustainability and Agrobiodiversity Research
Job Description
- Coordinate field surveys and primary data collection related to rice cultivation and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Design and implement farmer surveys, focus group discussions (FGDs), key informant interviews, and stakeholder consultations.
- Undertake literature reviews and secondary-data analysis on rice, agricultural sustainability, natural resources, agrobiodiversity, and climate change.
- Contribute to research on sustainable rice cultivation, biodiversity conservation, biodiversity finance, and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Prepare research reports, policy briefs, presentations, working papers, and other knowledge products.
- Coordinate with field partners, researchers, government agencies, development organisations, and other stakeholders.
- Support project management, field-team coordination, monitoring, and timely delivery of project outputs.
- Contribute to dissemination activities, workshops, consultations, and stakeholder meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree or PhD in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Development Studies, Environmental Economics, Environmental Science, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Biodiversity, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of relevant research experience for a Master’s-level candidate; candidates with a PhD and relevant experience may also be considered.
- Strong experience in primary research, field surveys, and organizing workshops, and policy dialogues.
- Good understanding of Indian agriculture, particularly rice-based farming systems, is desirable.
- Knowledge of biodiversity, climate change, natural resource management, or sustainable agriculture will be an advantage.
- Strong analytical, writing, communication, and coordination skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively for fieldwork.
2. Research Associates (One Post)- Environmental Sustainability and Agrobiodiversity Research
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and conducting farmer and stakeholder surveys related to rice cultivation and sustainable agricultural practices.
- Undertake field visits for primary data collection, farmer interviews, FGDs, and key informant interviews.
- Assist in developing questionnaires, survey tools, field protocols, and databases.
- Clean, organise, analyse, and interpret primary and secondary data.
- Conduct literature reviews and compile relevant secondary data on rice, agriculture, biodiversity, climate change, and natural resources.
- Support preparation of research reports, policy briefs, presentations, and background papers.
- Assist in organising stakeholder consultations, workshops, and field activities.
- Coordinate with field investigators, partner organisations, farmers, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of field activities and research data.
- Support the project team in meeting research and project deliverables.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agriculture, Environmental Economics, Development Studies, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Biodiversity, or a related discipline.
- 0–2 years of relevant research experience; fresh postgraduate candidates with strong research skills may also be considered.
- Experience in primary surveys, field research, or data analysis will be an advantage.
- Interest in Indian agriculture, rice-based farming systems, biodiversity, climate change, or sustainable development.
- Good analytical and writing skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel is essential; familiarity with Stata, SPSS, or other data-analysis software will be an advantage.
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork.
