Digital Economy Startups and Innovation (DESI)
The Digital Economy, Startups and Innovation (DESI) vertical, at ICRIER, provides rigorous research based policy evidence covering economic, developmental, regulatory and governance aspects of India’s digital transformation. With a multi-disciplinary research orientation to uncover the complex interplay between economics, emerging technologies, markets, and society, the DESI team engages in conversations with policy makers, industry, civil society and academia. Research covers digital public infrastructure, platform and competition regulation, telecommunications and spectrum policy, emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, data governance, cross-border data flows, and the financing and growth of India's technology startup ecosystem. Housing the ICRIER Prosus Centre for Internet and Digital Economy (IPCIDE) and the ICRIER and Vodafone Idea Centre for Telecom (InViCT), the endeavour is to provide a navigational compass to inform digital transformation and bring rigour to public discourse on digitalisation of the Indian economy.
