Ms. Sharma is a distinguished researcher and policy expert with extensive experience in public policy and government, as well as a former civil servant. Her work focuses public institutions, public service delivery, and institutional reforms, with a strong emphasis on rigorous, evidence-based analysis. She has written two books and several papers.
She has been a visiting fellow at The Centre for Advanced Studies on India, University of Pennsylvania, and has collaborated on international research initiatives, including projects with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her current research focuses on field level governance in India, including an analysis of the field administration structure in three states, a study of field governance of malnutrition in India and a case study on improving sanitation in Indore.
As Senior Visiting Fellow at ICRIER, Ms. Sharma will contribute to strengthening research on governance and social sector reforms through high-quality empirical and policy-oriented work.
