The East Asia Research Programme is hosted by Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), New Delhi. For the purposes of this programme, East Asia has been defined as comprising of those countries that are part of East Asian Summit forum, viz., ASEAN 10 plus India, the US, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Russia. The East Asia Research Programme will act as a forum for scholars to reflect on political and security issues in the East Asian Region. Specifically, the regional balance of power, regional security architecture, multiple frameworks of engagement (bilateral/trilateral/quadrilateral), territorial/maritime disputes and non-traditional security issues are some the areas of research. The East Asia Research Programme seeks to evolve into a robust training and a collaborative platform for scholars not only in India but also for scholars in the larger East Asian Region.
