The objective of this study is to analyse the economic impact of FDI reforms in India and their implications on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study reviews India’s FDI policy reform notes from 2009 and examines their on-ground impacts using a multi-sectoral lens to assess both the economic and sustainable development impacts. The study focusses on 11 sectors, and provides a suggestive framework of policy measures that can lead to a positive socio-economic impact, and help India further its sustainable development agenda with a focus on how India can attract investments in R&D.
