Dr. Saon Ray is a Senior Visiting Professor, ICRIER. Her research focuses on three main areas: international trade and industry, low-carbon growth, and financial inclusion. Her areas of interest include global value chains, technological upgrading of Indian industries, free trade agreements and trade creation effects, technology transfer, foreign direct investment, efficiency and productivity of firms, financial inclusion, energy, and climate change related issues. She has published widely on these issues in books and journal articles. She led ICRIER studies that provided inputs to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Commerce and Industries. She has been a consultant to ADB, UNU-WIDER, and UNIDO. She has presented on India’s trade integration from global and regional perspectives at several fora. Her Ph.D. in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University examined the role of intellectual property rights in transferring technology to developing countries.
