Deepak Mishra is the Director and Chief Executive of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER). His expertise lies at the intersection of technology and development, with a strong focus on digital transformation, jobs and growth.
Prior to joining ICRIER, Deepak was the Practice Manager at the World Bank covering the East Asia and Pacific region. He also co-directed the World Development Report 2016: Digital Dividends.
An active voice in policy circles, Deepak has served on several high-level committees and advisory bodies including for Ministry of Finance (MoF), NITI Aayog, Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI), and during India’s G20 Presidency. He is also the Head of the ICRIER–Prosus Centre for Digital Economy, and ICRIER and Vodafone Centre for Telecom.
His academic work has been published in leading journals. He holds an M.A. in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland.
