Study on the Impact of E-Commerce Sector on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in India

Objective: Is to study the impact of integrating with e-commerce platforms on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in India, specifically focusing on the volume of business, supply chain linkages and employment. Based on a survey of over 1500 enterprises, the study also aimed to bring out the challenges faced by MSMEs and make policy recommendations for the e-commerce platforms, enterprises and government.

Scope and Deliverables: The study is based on a survey of 1,537 manufacturing units in India across six product categories namely sports goods, toys, furniture, readymade garments, handicrafts, and processed and preserved food sectors. Ten states and about 28 industrial clusters were covered. The findings were presented in a report, available on ICRIER’s website.
