Sunaina holds a Master’s degree in Economics, specialising in Environment and Resource Economics, from TERI School of Advanced Studies, New Delhi, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Delhi. Her research interests include resource economics, climate policy, renewable energy, and just energy transitions.
Prior to joining ICRIER, she worked as an Analyst (Research) at the Power Foundation of India, a society under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, where she contributed to economic and policy research in the power and energy sector. She has co-authored a publication on the economic and social viability of decentralised wastewater treatment systems (DEWATS) for non-potable water use in rural India, published in Discover Environment in 2026.
