These guidelines cover aspects such as unique passwords for IoT devices, provision of a dedicated public point of contact for reporting and managing vulnerabilities, timely and secure updation of software. They recommend that mechanisms should be in place to verify the integrity of IoT devices after connectivity disruptions, especially for IoT manufacturers, service providers, and system integrators. Further, data collected from IoT devices should be monitored for security anomalies, and personal data processing should be minimized to necessary functionality and consumers must have the ability to withdraw consent for personal data processing at any time and configure IoT devices for privacy. The document also emphasises on the significance of establishing a National Trust Center (NTC) to register certified devices, distinguish safe devices, and track vulnerabilities for continuous safety improvements.
