Our research on Startups and Competition explores how India’s evolving digital economy can remain competitive while sustaining innovation incentives for all digital firms. We examine the network of actors in India’s startup ecosystem, the triple helix relationship between industry, academia and government, and the growth enablers driving startup performance and scalability. The agenda emphasizes the role of deep tech startups at the frontier of technological growth and their policy needs for moving up the innovation value chain. It also studies the interface between startups and Big Tech, focusing on issues of data control, platform dependence, and competition concerns. Through this work, we aim to contribute to national and global debates on how policy can foster innovation, fairness, and consumer welfare in digital markets.
