ICRIER Prosus Centre for Internet and Digital Economy

Prosus has continued its collaboration with ICRIER to support the ongoing operation of the ICRIER Prosus Centre for Internet and Digital Economy, for a further period of three years. The objective of the Centre is to continue to be one of the most influential thought leaders in shaping the next phase of India’s digital transformation, with a view to support the country’s transition towards a more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable digital economy. The Centre shall aim to achieve the aforementioned objective through high-quality research, assistance in policy design, and prominent networking events supported through ICRIER’s existing infrastructure.

 

The Centre shall serve as a platform for engaging with domestic and international entities working in the area of the digital economy through policy research, organizing conferences, stakeholder interactions, and dissemination events. The Centre shall also engage with key government departments, private sector labs, and research clusters. The Centre shall utilise its global network with research institutions, universities, and individual scholars, as well as its reputation in India as a knowledge centre for the digital economy.

 

The key research areas for the Centre for the next three years are as follows:

(i) State of India’s Digital Economy (SIDE): A comprehensive annual report providing in-depth analysis of the current status, trends, and future outlook of India’s digital economy.
(ii) Sub-national State of India’s Digital Economy Report: This report will identify regional trends within various aspects of the digital economy.
(iii) Startups and Competition: Analysing the enablers of startup growth and the competitive dynamics with digital platforms, this work will highlight policy options to foster innovation, scalability, and fair market access in India’s evolving digital economy. We will also build on our ongoing work in digital competition and continue to participate in global and national debates, and provide research-driven insights on evolving competition dynamics in digital markets.
