Supporting India’s priorities on “Strengthening Multilateral Development Banks (MDBS)”

The objective of this programme is to facilitate meaningful engagement and create awareness on the issue of reforming multilateral development banks that serves the interest of all countries, especially the poorest countries in the world. The starting point of the project is the recommendations of the independent expert group (IEG) on strengthening the multilateral development banks. The IEG was established by the Indian Presidency of the G20 and ICRIER served as the Secretariat to the IEG. The purpose was to review and propose new ideas involving the vision and mission statement of the MDBs, their operating model, expansion of existing capital and mobilization of new (private) capital and making MDBs work as a system with common purpose. Through this project, ICRIER will track the implementation of the IEG recommendations.
